Not me crying during Frozen on Broadway...and more from the week.
We are back from a week in RI visiting family and taking Marin to see Frozen on Broadway at PPAC. There are still some dates that have tickets available and if you are in the area, I highly recommend.
The performance we went to was an afternoon show with mostly kids in the audience, a lot of high school/middle schools were there. The usher offered us other seats because ours were directly behind a huge sea of teenagers to which I replied, trust me we’ll be fine, gesturing to my 4 year old. Being in that theater yesterday with all those kids gave me more pride and hope than anything I’ve experienced in recent memory.
Their joy, excitement and engagement with the show was so pure. I was teary eyed throughout the show watching my 4 year old experience a theater of kids cheering loudly, erupting in applause after every song, and just having fun (sans phones). The collective experience was one I will not soon forget, and it was clear the cast was equally as moved by the sheer enthusiasm of the audience.
In a time when things can feel so disconnected and contentious, I can tell you that yesterday, the kids were alright. I hope we can give them more of those experiences, they deserve it, we all do.

Ripple is one of the best investigative podcasts I’ve listened to in a long time. The series looks at the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill and the impact it still has on coastal residents more than a decade later. A must listen. (American Public Media)

I was honored and humbled to be a guest on
