A summery pasta recipe, why living in a small town might actually by idyllic, the awful side of parasocial relationships, signs you may want to skip parenthood and more...
I realize how dreadfully boring it is to talk about the weather but we’ve had so much rain I’m starting to forget what it’s like to see the sun. It’s a bit of downer. We had our first pop-up last weekend selling popsicles (our juicer isn’t here yet) and all I can say is, Mother Nature is humbling. Between torrential rain, power outages and cold temperatures, it wasn’t popsicle weather. But you know what, people showed up anyway. Mostly friends and locals, but it meant even more, because it was exactly the type of weather that would keep most people home. And yet, friends turned out and brought their kids who crushed popsicles while shivering. It just reminded me how grateful I am for this community, and how important it is to live in one where you feel a part of it.
For all the challenges we’re going through as a state, and as a small town in Vermont, there’s still so many people who show up for one another. And that really matters now, maybe more than ever. When you show up for your friends/neighbors/community, I can promise you it means more to them than you could ever possibly know. It certainly did for me.
