Is your last name more Democratic or Republican, where to find my number one wardrobe item for summer, the rise of the landline, and more...
I deleted my entire intro to this newsletter because quite frankly, it was too depressing. I wanted to write about the administration’s inhumane, immoral, and illegal treatment of undocumented workers and green card holders, but I couldn’t come up with anything even remotely uplifting to counter-balance it with. Not to say everything needs a silver lining or a positive twist, but maybe we also don’t need the reminder of how bad things really are?
I always try to find the little pockets of hope or inspiration that help carry us through despite all the ugliness, and hate, and despair. Maybe it’s just the little acts of kindness and humanity, so small they often sneak by unnoticed. Proving that every little selfless gesture, act of generosity, and compassion, is a form of resistance. It doesn’t have to be grand to mean something. It doesn’t need to be noticed to matter. We all just have to keep trying to do the next right thing.

Where to find the number one item in my summer wardrobe
A TV crossover episode I’m very excited about
How Republican or Democratic is your last name?
What one journalist witnessed at a Trump rally
An important step to protect your privacy
And more…
Will always read an interview with AOC, “I really do believe in people. I believe in our collective conscience. So, I don’t have any master plan, but I believe that the people will show me the way.” (Rolling Stone)
An all too familiar heartbreaking story. An honor roll student went to a routine immigration check-in. She was deported to a country she barely remembers. (The 19th)
How Trump’s cuts to Medicaid will upend the lives of those who stand to lose the most. (The Atlantic)
How Republican or Democratic is your last name? Why am I so relieved that Kirby leans Democratic, lol? (The Washington Post)
All I can say is we do not deserve dogs. (Newsweek)
The future advancements in science and medicine that we stand to lose because of federal funding cuts. (NPR)
I’m sure Trump’s MAHA supports will be thrilled to hear his administration is suing California to try and get rid of the animal welfare law that protects chickens, calves, and pigs from being kept in small cages. (LA Times)
A tough but necessary read. “To be cared for, you must also show care. To have a community, you have to be part of it. To have people care if you live or die, you have to start caring about the life and death of others around you.” (Men Yell At Me)
“How long until AI makes students functionally illiterate? It seems we may already be well on our way.” (Matriarchy Report)
I got really into It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia during my pregnancy, and then really into Abbott Elementary a few years ago but haven’t watched either in a while. Now they have a crossover episode and I can’t wait to watch.
Colombian artist Goyo released her debut album, Pantera, drawing inspiration from the Black Panther Party and the Marvel universe.
Hoping I can convince all of my friends to get landlines.
The number one item in my summer wardrobe is a linen button down. Tons of great ones on thredUP. Here’s my tips for shopping thredUP ICMYI.
