What to wear and how to wear it. The Sunday Style column from Jess Kirby.
Welcome to Sunday Style. The Style column where we talk about what to wear and how to wear it. Practical tips for getting dressed, loving your wardrobe, and knowing that comfort and style can co-exist.
I’ve gone through quite the personal style evolution since my early days of blogging. Naturally, over 10 years my tastes have changed, and so have my priorities.
Post-baby I really struggled to find my way back to loving getting dressed again. Not only had my body changed, but my life did too. Oh and there was a global pandemic.
Our move to Vermont had a big impact on my style too. Birkenstocks and Blundstones are the shoe of choice. Clogs are considered a dress shoe, and puffy coats are required almost half of the year.
It’s taken me a while to figure out how to dress for the new environment I live in, while simultaneously re-evaluating the way I’ve approached personal style and my wardrobe for the last few years.
I’m exhausted by the relentless consumerism and constant trend cycle. I like nice things, but when will enough be enough?
It’s something I personally continue to grapple with, and getting off of social media has really opened my eyes to how much it influences my habits, especially when it comes to spending money and feeling like I need shiny new things.
As someone who is working to completely shift her business model, and therefore will need to drastically change her budgeting and lifestyle, it feels like I’m entering a new era. If there’s one thing that living in Vermont has taught me, it’s how to make the most of what you already have.
Here’s what to expect from the Sunday Style column…

Some outfits I wore last week

Fleece Jacket // Jeans (love that these are cropped, they work well with boots) // Sneakers (probably end of the season for these) // Stripe tee
Fleece sweatshirt (runs big) // Sweatpants // Sneakers // Vest (found this at my local Sierra!)
Jeans (these are long so need to be worn cuffed which I love) // Sweater // Turtleneck (I live in this all winter) // Clogs // Jacket is an old favorite from Eileen Fisher. They’ve never made a similar one but it’s seriously the best I hope they bring it back.

Jeans (run small) // Striped Shirt // Corduroy Button Down // Clogs // Smartwool Socks (found a bunch at Sierra!)
Some of the above links are affiliate links. If you buy something through any of these links I may make a small commission. Please do not feel the need to buy anything. If you are just here for outfit ideas or whatever else, that’s ok too!
Hi Jess, I just wanted to say that I really appreciate this new take on engagement and the effort to reduce the consumerism of the influencing space. I think we are collectively tired of constantly being sold something and instead would like to connect with admirable women on a more personal level. I know it’s tough because you and other internet marketers need to make a living, and I certainly don’t disparage you that, but being intentional about what you offer is appreciated more than you know!
