Welcome to A Common Thread

Same newsletter, new name...exploring the everyday moments that unite us

When I started this newsletter at the end of 2023 I didn’t have a super clear vision for it. I just knew that I had a lot to say about a whole bunch of things. I slapped my name on it (or at least the one most people know me by, Jess Ann Kirby) as a placeholder while I figured out what this thing was.

Over the last few months I’ve written about motherhood, the influencer industry, over-consumption, reflections on personal style, and more. After years of trying to put myself in boxes or “niches” to better fit an aesthetic or brand story, I’ve finally allowed myself the freedom to write, whatever comes to mind.

While the subjects I write about vary (sometimes widely) they all share A Common Thread, and that’s how this new name came to be. While this newsletter examines the topics I cover through my own personal lens, it’s also about the everyday moments that unite us. It's where modern motherhood, home life, personal style, the influence of technology and beyond intersect, creating a common thread of shared experiences to explore and dissect.

A Common Thread is also a community—a gathering of souls connected by shared experiences, hopes, fears and aspirations. It's an examination of our humanity, and a journey to uncover the beauty in life's moments, whether big or small. 

At a time when many of us crave community and connection in more meaningful ways, I hope that this can serve as a place to support that, both on and offline. Thanks for being here.
