On the value of working at a slower pace, why cats aren't jerks, young girls intense pressure to feel perfect, the gift of silence in a noisy world, and more.
Almost every morning my toddler asks “when is it going to be summer again?” and honestly, I’m asking myself the same thing. To be clear, she wants the beach, the sun, the warmth, and the ability to “wear just summer dresses without other stuff.” By stuff I assume she means the 10,000 layers we have to put on and take off every day.
This time of year is always a bit rough. Winter is long, spring still feels far away. It’s wet, it’s muddy, we’re all desperate for sun and flowers. Yesterday we walked home from school and it was sunny and warm (relatively speaking). Seemingly everyone had a pep in their step. Today we’re back to rain and mud, but it’s so nice to savor those little moments of sunshine, helping us reach that moment when all of a sudden we realize we can just wear the dress, without the other stuff.
